The Fire Alarm Panel supports 4 zones, each of which can be used for fire/smoke detection or intruder detection (security). The selection of fire or intruder detection is done internally, by using a DIP switch. Each zone can support up to 8 sensors. Two potential free change-over contacts, one each for fire and security, are provided to extend the alarm to remote sites.

When used for fire detection, any fire sensor in the zone getting activated will trigger the alarm condition. Corresponding LED on the Panel will glow and internal buzzer will start making sounds enabling the external Hooter to sound and the potential free contact changes state. The fire shall be acknowledged by using the key switch on the front of the Fire Alarm Panel. On acknowledging, the hooter will go off but the buzzer will remain ON, reminding of the fault. Once the fault has been attended to (fire put off) the alarm shall be reset clearing the alarm.

Trying to reset the alarm without attending to the fault will cause the hooter to go ON again. When used for intruder detection, door opening will trigger the Alarm. The person opening the door is given 30 seconds time to acknowledge the door opening using the key switch on the panel. During this time and 30 seconds after the acknowledgement, the buzzer remains ON as a reminder. If the door opening is not acknowledged in 30 seconds, the hooter will switch ON and the potential free contact changes state. The door shall close only when acknowledged, else the alarm will trigger again.
